Church History

In obedience to God, Elder Darrell E. Dreher, Sr., accepted his calling to pastor. After consulting his wife Annette W. Dreher, extensively searching for a place to worship, Elder Darrell E. Dreher and Annette W. Dreher, founded and established the Spirit of God Deliverance Church on July 2, 2000. Spirit of God Deliverance Church (SOGDC) had its beginning with our first church service at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School, located at 2501 Olson Street, Temple Hills, Maryland. At this service, many friends and relatives attended. The Holy Spirit stamped his approval on our beginning with His presence filling the service. What a glorious time we all had in the Lord! 15 joined by receiving the right hand of fellowship. On Wednesday, July 5, 2000, Pastor Dreher taught our first bible teaching class on the doctrine and vision of our church.

We grew spiritually in our faith and many souls were added to the church. Pastor Dreher continued to preach and teach the uncompromising word of God, lifting up the name of Jesus Christ. SOGDC continued to grow throughout the years in spite of the obstacles faced while worshiping at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School. Yet, through it all, God did not allow our services to be hindered. We have a faithful and dedicated membership, working diligently to help build God’s Kingdom.

Over the past 20 years, this ministry has established a number of dynamic spirit led and relaxing activities which intend to uplift, motivate, and save souls. The Lord has blessed our ministry to purchase seven acres of land. God gave Pastor Dreher a vision to pay off the church’s property in 2012. We realize that all things are possible through Christ and we are grateful for all that the Lord has done. We are presently working on building our new edifice. Prayerfully we will break ground in the near future.

We thank God and look forward to Him doing a greater work through His anointing power that dwells in us all.
